Sculpture
My designs are inspired and drawn from nature, Art Deco and Art Nouveau, Native American art, among others. The dichroic glass sculptures have multiple layers of different colored glass, which are then etched to create the designs. Some have as many as six layers of glass. The "frit" sculptures are fired multiple times and have many layers to create landscapes using a painterly effect. I create a wide variety of sculpture designs and styles. Some are "slumped" or fired over molds to create their shapes, others have hand-made and designed stands out of wood and/or metal. The "lightbox" sculptures have a small bulb and 6' cord, to illuminate the glass from behind, as well as having an open back that allows natural light to come through. The wood stands and boxes are custom-made by another Oregon business, Solid Design Woodworking, and are made from a variety of salvaged Oregon native wood, including walnut, maple, fir, and yew.
